Led by Frank Ray, this is an excellent mid-western group
that features a good brand of solid traditional
Bluegrass. This recording is on Dixie & Tom T. Hall’s
Blue Circle label, and features 3 of the Halls’
songs including IT’S ONLY THE WIND and the title song.
Most of the lead singing is handled by Lisa Ray, the
fiddler for the band. In addition to the dobro work of
Ferrell Stowe and the harmony fiddle of Molly
Cherryholmes, the record includes Vince Gill, who is
heard in a strong duet on one song, BROKEN ANGELS &
picks mandolin on it too. Kenny Cantrell plays a solid
banjo as well, on a good collection of old & new songs. |
