This highly impressive 21-tune collection garnered a Grammy
award as the top Bluegrass recording of 1994, and it's hard to
argue with that selection. Produced by Tut Taylor & Jerry
Douglas, it features a couple of cuts each by the giants of the
instrument-Josh Graves, Mike Auldridge & Douglas--plus a good
representation of today's players, and two tunes by the daddy of
all dobroists, Brother Oswald. Among the newer generation heard
here are Gene Wooten, Sally Van Meter, Rob Ickes, Stacy Phillips
& Curtis Burch. Co-producer Tut Taylor, not exactly a newcomer,
also picks a couple with a flat pick. An amazing array of talent
is to be found in the backup men; people like Sam Bush, David
Grier, Kenny Baker, Vassar Clements, Larry Perkins, Ronnie
McCoury, Stuart Duncan, etc., making this a feast for any fan of
the dobro. Well recommended. FLATT LONESOME, WAVE, POISON LOVE,
DOBRO CHIMES, CHEROKEE SHUFFLE, WAKE FOREST, ACE OF SPADES,
SUITCASE, ABILENE GAL, BIRDLAND.
